About Me
Hello, I'm Peggy Bozzano, a former Accountant turned Certified Pet Nutritionist. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Accountancy from Lewis University as well as a Certificate in Animal Companion Nutrition from the University of Illinois. I also have a Certificate in Clicker Training. I not only learned how to train pets but also about pet behavior. I've been honored to have volunteered at A.D.O.P.T. in Naperville, IL, as well as fostered for Small Paws Bichon Rescue. In a few weeks I'll be volunteering at the Best Friend's Society Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. I'm comfortable with all kinds of fur babies.
I'm privileged to be a Fur Baby Mom to two Bichon Frise dogs, Coccinella ("ladybug" in Italian) and Piccola ("little one" in Italian). I've been passionate about all animals my entire life. It started out with my obsession with dogs at the age of 2. I wanted a dog so badly but my mother was allergic to dogs. My grandma ended up getting me a Bichon Frise named, ChiChi. She grew up with me and did everything I did. This included eating everything like cake, chocolate, and pasta as well as inhaling 2nd hand smoke (nobody in my family knew any better at the time). She was 25lbs about 10lbs overweight (the equivalent of 100lbs overweight in Human lbs) and had emphysema. She passed away at the age of 15 and I knew if she was healthier lifestyle should could have lived longer. ChiChi was my inspiration for being a better pet parent. Once I was responsible for my own dog as an adult, I knew I wanted to make sure I was the best Fur Mom I could be.
During the pandemic I realized I wasn't happy with my job. So I thought about what I could do for a living that would make me happy. It dawned on me that I'm extremely passionate about animal nutrition. I had already been doing my own research with my own dogs their entire lives. I've been feeding commercial raw dog food for almost 15 years now. So I took a chance by quitting my job and enrolling in school at UofI. I also found a job that made me extremely happy at a pet store. I get to be around animals everyday and I've changed animals lives by helping pet parents find the right foods and supplements for the pets.
I am constantly researching and reading anything I can to learn more. I believe we should never stop learning.
